Logging by Cushman
« on: September 17, 2021, 02:05:31 PM »
Just a heads up for hunters who like the Lake Cushman area- I went up Jorstad creek road this morning for grouse and almost got sideswiped by a logging truck before I got a half mile in, then saw another aways up. Turned around and found another spot for the day. Just be safe, those roads have a ton of blind corners and parts where you don't have a spot to pull off the road if you needed to. Last year hunted up there for several days and didnt see one truck but they're obviously logging this year. Happy hunting!

The last 3 years has been a *censored*show up there.  Especially the northern end. Been ran off the road a couple times up there
By trucks going way to fast for those roads. It's been really bad on the Hamma Hamma campground side.

Yeah they really barrel down those roads. Good grouse up there sometimes but it gets sketchy with those trucks.

Put a CB in your vehicle and call out markers if you don’t already. Most industrial logging roads have cb channels posted at the bottom and believe it or not loggers and people who work in the woods for a living still use cb’s all the time.

Federal and State land should have cb channels posted as well. Loaded log trucks and lowboys always have the right of way.
